Week 6 Assignment: Searching in Academic Search Complete
Week Six Assignment
Part One
Research
question: What is the efficiency of energy storage from PV solar cells and how
is that measured?
Part Two
Main concepts:
What is the efficiency of energy storage from PV solar cells and how is that measured?
What is the efficiency of energy storage from PV solar cells and how is that measured?
Search statement:
“energy storage” AND “PV solar cells”
Part Three
I put “energy
storage*” in the first box and
and “PV solar cells” in the second box
Which gave me 3 results.
I used
the scholarly peer reviewed limiter and had 2 results.
I wanted
more so I changed the field dropdown to TX All Text for both search terms and
got 4 results.
I used “Modeling
a Hybrid Microgrid Using Probalistic Reconfiguration under System Uncertainties”
and
“Design
of an Energy Hub Based on Natural Gas and Renewable Energy Resources”.
Part Four
I think
one of the most important things I learned was the prominence of understanding
your search terms. When you compile a research question, you can often simplify it into a basic composition—usually two or three words or statements that
can help identify exactly what a student or researcher is looking for. It can
be strange to think that breaking an entire question into two or three basic
concepts can often make research into a more useful and valuable way of honing
in on exactly what is needed. Also, sometimes getting too specific can limit
the directions that a researcher can take. Creating an ILLiad account is
crucial for actually being able to utilize some of these research terms and
actually putting them to use.
Ed,
ReplyDeleteI suspect that you will find more articles when you look in a subject specific database. That said, I also wonder what the subject terms for these two concepts might be. I would guess that if you tweaked your search terms you might find more. Don't forget to consult the broad terms you found in your background research.
Good work,
Sue
